Community Involvement
Community Involvement
When I moved to Yarmouth, I began volunteering as a way to contribute to and connect with the Yarmouth community. I began small by shelving books at Merrill Memorial Library and helping plan events for Royal River Conservation Trust. When our Superintendent put out a call for volunteers in early 2022, I served as a lunch monitor and substitute teacher. I also joined the School Department’s Equity Task Force. My interest in the health of the Royal River led me to become a board member of the Royal River Alliance. When over 100 New Mainers appeared in a local hotel, I volunteered with Yarmouth Community Services to find out their clothing needs and sort through donations. I coordinated a group of neighbors providing childcare during English classes so parents could focus on learning, and I was a volunteer driver.
I did not come to Yarmouth imagining I would ever get involved in local or state government, but the more I volunteered, the more I was asked to step up, and the more I said "yes."
